Feng Shui and Your Health
I bought a new pair of sneakers the other day, started a new eating plan (lost five pounds in three weeks!) and decided to learn how to play tennis! The greatest thing we can do is not wait till the beginning of the year to start a new practice of health and well-being. Unfortunately, January first is the day we claim we’re going to change everything, and so often we fail because the pressure/goals are simply unreachable. Jump in at any time of the year, how about tomorrow? Find something you love (tennis is such fun!) and just move your body! Your body and spirit will thank you!
In Feng Shui the Health corner of the bagua is right in the middle of the home. It’s ruled by the element Earth and the colors from yellow to brown (all those warm earth tones). Because Fire creates Earth, the color red is also a powerful color to use in this area, creating a constructive cycle of energy. Be careful not to include green as an earth tone. Green is actually a wood color in Feng Shui, and earth and wood do not get along.
Let’s boost our health energy by adding a new plant to this area of the home; put it in a yellow or red pot. If like me you don’t have a window in the middle of your house (tee hee), you may use a really good fake plant. Add some real dirt into the top of the pot so you bring real earth energy into the home. I have my 5, 8 and 10 pound weights here as well as my yoga mat tucked neatly under the hall table. Hang a poster of your favorite athlete, or your vision board, especially if well-being is a primary intention for the year. Artwork that reflects fire or earth are both good here. A painting with flowers or a landscape is lovely.
Here’s the most important part. The intention. WHY do you want health and well-being? When I was younger I always wanted to be the skinniest cheerleader on the top of the pyramid. I always thought that if I were thin enough, the boys would like me. I’m not sure that’s the best reason for your well-being because the intention is coming from a fear place. I know that when I’m a few pounds lighter I simply feel better, I have more energy, my clothes look sassier and I seem to work more and play more too!
Perhaps something like this might be better:
- I am grounded and centered in well-being.
- Well being is my true nature so that I may express my greatest self
- My health is a reflection of my life well lived
- I am grateful for the lessons any dis-ease has brought me and am willing to learn from joy and wellness now.
Place your new Feng Shui cure in this area of the home and say your intention/affirmation nine times to empower the cure!
Now, lets talk a little bit more about this thing called DIS-EASE…
About two weeks ago I was at Business Honoring Spirituality, a networking event for spiritually minded entrepreneurs that meets at Mile Hi every Thursday morning at 7am. The speaker this particular morning was Judy Morley, PhD speaking on Mind/Body Healing from the Inside Out. She was diagnosed with stage 4 lymphoma, was told she would need two rounds of chemo and a bone marrow transplant. Now twelve years later (and after only one round of chemo) and completely cured, she is sharing her experience with cancer.
She asked this question about dis-ease or any negative condition in your life. What is the benefit of this negative condition? Judy whittled down this thought down to the purest and deepest core thought and discovered that her disease was giving her time to rest! She was a care giver, giving to everybody else before giving to herself. With her condition she learned that she had to give to herself first. She couldn’t take care of everybody else out of obligation because she just didn’t have the energy. When she discovered this, she knew she was on her way to healing.
I was working with a client recently who has suffered from a STD. This is not an easy topic to talk about and while she cried softly I asked her what benefit her condition was giving her. After thinking about it for a few days she called me to say that she believed she is learning how to be intimate with her husband in so many deeper and more profound ways than she thought was possible! What a beautiful and powerful awareness.
So while you are you in your health corner setting your cures and setting your powerful and clear intentions for the greatest of health so you can express your greatest self, try not to curse any condition that is currently happening in your life and ask for the clarity of how it’s benefiting you.
Then, as Judy said in her presentation, find a way to achieve what it is you really need, like intimacy or self nurturing, without the condition. Prayers to release the condition while truly embracing what it is you need most are beautifully magnified in the health area of your home. Write your new affirmations down on an index card and tape it somewhere in this area of you home. Every time you pass the card, take an empowering breath and release your prayer into the Universe.
Eckart Tolle said in “A New Earth” that one conscious breath is a true meditation.
You may find an MP3 of Judy’s talk that morning HERE. There’s a $3.00 fee for the 1/2 hour talk; totally worth the inspiration that it brought me. I hope it will do the same for you!

Hi Nicolette,
Read your blog here and loved it all! That’s why I love you. You come out straight from the heart. May the universe bless you for sharing your bright light like sun rays that touch us. I am going to have to purchase a yellow pot for my plant! How about a light green one, does that count?
I am blessed to have you as a friend and yes, one day we will get together my friend! Hugs and be safe,

Nancy!
Thank you so much for reading my new blog!! Your comment is inspiring to me and my heart just opened up even a little bit more.
A green pot would actually represent wood energy so go get a yellow or red one to really boost the earth energy!! I am blessed to know you too dear one!!

I like the concept of what is an illness giving you that you need.
As a psychic and Reiki worker, many times I’m faced with someone that could be helped by Reiki, but the help doesn’t seem to stick. Usually I find this happens with people who have “good and proper reasons” for needing to hang onto the illness or injury longer.

Hi Catherine,
I completely agree. We might call an illness into our lives to force us to grow into a new paradigm or a new experience. I feel that Reiki and Feng Shui and other healing modalities can help us understand why we might have created such a condition, bring awareness to our thoughts so that we can heal them (our false beliefs about ourselves) and move through the learning process with grace, thus releasing the illness! Whenever I am sick or have an injury, I always go within and ask what is it that I am learning from this process!
Thanks for your comment!!

I’ve also found that sometimes folks call illness or injury and hold onto it for awhile because it stops the “business” we can use to keep ourselves from seeing things that we do not want to confront.
It gives us space to see clearly, and make choices
